Airport Transfers in Uzbekistan: Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva
A private airport transfer in Uzbekistan is your own car and driver from the arrivals hall to your hotel, or from the hotel to your flight. How it works at the four tourist airports — Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Urgench for Khiva — and how to choose the right car.

The first hour after landing sets the tone of a trip. If you arrive in Uzbekistan tired, with suitcases and no local SIM card yet, an airport transfer arranged in advance means a driver who knows where you are going and a car that is only for you. This guide covers the four airports most visitors use — Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Urgench for Khiva.
Key facts
- What it is: a private car with a professional driver, for your group only — not a shared shuttle.
- Where: door to door between the airport, the railway station and your hotel or guesthouse.
- Airports: Tashkent International, Samarkand International, Bukhara International and Urgench International (for Khiva).
- Cars: from a sedan for up to 3 travellers to a minibus for up to 16; standard luggage is included.
- Price: per car, not per person; it depends on the city and the car — see the transfer pages or ask us.
- Both ways: every transfer also runs in the other direction, from your hotel back to the airport or station.
- Next city: a private car can take you on from the airport, for example Tashkent to Samarkand in about 4–5 hours.
What a private airport transfer is
A private transfer is a booked car that waits for you, not a taxi you find at the exit. You tell us the date, the flight, the number of travellers and the hotel; we confirm the car and the driver before you travel. The driver takes you straight to the address you gave, and on the way back collects you at the hotel and drops you at the departure terminal.
Nobody else is picked up on the way. Short stops — for a cash machine, a bottle of water or a quick photo — are possible on request.
Meeting your driver at the airport
A few details in your request make the hand-over quick:
- Flight number and arrival time: they tell us which flight to expect, so the pickup is planned around it.
- Number of travellers and suitcases: so the car you get has room for everyone and every bag.
- A phone or WhatsApp contact: reachable once you land, in case you need to find each other.
- Hotel name and address: written as on your booking, so there is no confusion at the end of the ride.
At Tashkent, international and domestic flights use different buildings: as of October 2026, international flights use Terminal 2 and domestic flights Terminal 3, and the two are separate buildings connected by road. If you arrive on a domestic flight — from Urgench to Tashkent, for example — say so in the request.
Which car for your group and luggage
Every car shows how many travellers and suitcases it takes (seats do not include the driver), and we never offer a car with fewer seats than your group:
- Standard sedan (Chevrolet Cobalt or Gentra): 3 travellers, 3 suitcases — enough for a couple or a small family with ordinary bags.
- Premium sedan: 3 travellers, 3 suitcases.
- VIP minivan: 6 travellers, 6 suitcases.
- Lux minivan (Hyundai Staria or Starex): 7 travellers, 7 suitcases — the usual choice for families of four or five with large luggage.
- Standard minibus: 16 travellers, 16 suitcases, for groups.
The suitcase count matters as much as the seats. Three travellers with three large cases plus golf clubs, a pram or ski bags will be more comfortable in a minivan. For more than 16 travellers, ask us and we arrange a larger vehicle or several cars.
Airport by airport
Tashkent International Airport
For many travellers the capital is where the trip begins and ends, so this is often the first and the last transfer of the journey. Take the Tashkent airport transfer to your hotel in the city, or go straight on to the railway station or to another city.
Samarkand International Airport
Landing in Samarkand puts you within reach of the Registan on the first evening. The Samarkand airport transfer takes you to your hotel or guesthouse; if you stay near the old town, give us the exact address and the guesthouse name.
Bukhara International Airport
Flying into Bukhara is a convenient way to start or end a route from the west. The Bukhara airport transfer covers the airport, the railway station and hotels in the city.

Urgench International Airport (for Khiva)
Khiva has no airport of its own. Flights for Khiva land in Urgench, the regional centre, and Khiva is about 43 km from Urgench by road. The Khiva airport transfer takes you from Urgench airport to your hotel in Khiva and back.

Late arrivals and early departures
Some flights land late at night or very early in the morning. This is when a pre-booked car helps most: no searching for a ride and a driver who already has your hotel address. Write the scheduled time in your request and let us know if the flight changes.
For departures, agree the pickup time at the hotel with us in advance. Allow enough time for the drive, for check-in and, on international flights, for passport control. If you check out before an evening flight, the car can collect you from another address you give us.
Railway station pickups
The same service works at the railway stations. Many travellers fly into Tashkent and take the high-speed train to Samarkand or Bukhara; the train itself is explained in our Afrosiyob high-speed train guide. What remains is the last stretch: the station is rarely next to your hotel, and with luggage a car waiting at the exit saves you a lot of effort. Send us the train number and arrival time just as you would a flight.
Travelling on to the next city
A private car can also collect you at the airport and drive you directly to the next city — useful when the train times do not suit your flight. Our stated driving times are about 4–5 hours for Tashkent to Samarkand, 4–5 hours for Samarkand to Bukhara and 6–7 hours for Bukhara to Khiva. All intercity routes, and the city transfers for each airport, are listed on our private transfers page.
Practical tips
- Book before you fly: the request needs a date, a route and a car; we reply with the confirmation.
- Count the bags, not only the people: when in doubt, choose the next larger car.
- Keep your phone on after landing: turn on roaming or buy a SIM so you can be reached.
- Write addresses in full: guesthouses in the old towns can be hard to find by name alone.
- Mention children: tell us their ages when you book.
- Have some local cash for the first day: small purchases are easier with it.
Plan it with TravelBliss
We arrange private transfers at all four airports and at the railway stations, and we can link them to the train, an intercity drive or a full tour. If you also travel with us on a tour, send your flight details with the booking so the transfers and the programme fit together. Prices depend on the city and the car — see the transfer pages or contact us.

Questions and answers
Is an airport transfer in Uzbekistan shared with other travellers?
No. It is a private car with a driver for you and your travel companions only, with no other passengers on board.
Is the price per person or per car?
Per car, whatever the number of travellers it seats. Where no price is shown on the website, we confirm it by WhatsApp or e-mail.
How much luggage can we take?
Standard luggage is included, and each car shows how many suitcases it takes — from 3 in a sedan to 16 in a minibus. For extra bags, choose a larger car.
Which airport should I use for Khiva?
Urgench International Airport. Khiva is about 43 km from Urgench by road, and a transfer takes you from the airport to your hotel in Khiva.
Can the driver take us straight from the airport to another city?
Yes. A private car can collect you at the airport and drive you directly to the next city, for example from Tashkent to Samarkand in about 4–5 hours.
Can you pick us up at the railway station instead of the airport?
Yes. The same transfers run from the railway stations to your hotel and back; send us your train number and arrival time.
