Stop 1Gur-Emir Mausoleum
The tour begins at the final resting place of Amir Timur (Tamerlane), his son Shah Rukh, his grandson Ulugh Beg and other members of the Timurid dynasty. This 15th-century masterpiece of Islamic architecture is known for its turquoise dome and richly ornamented interior.
Stop 2Registan Square
The heart of medieval Samarkand, framed by three madrasahs — Ulugh Beg (15th century), Sher-Dor and Tilla-Kori (17th century) — once major centres of science, education and trade. Their tiled facades and monumental arches are among the finest examples of Islamic architecture in Central Asia.
Stop 3Bibi-Khanym Mosque
Built during the reign of Amir Timur and once among the largest mosques of the Islamic world. Its enormous entrance portal, large courtyard and domes still show the ambition of the Timurid era.
Stop 4Siab Bazaar
Samarkand’s traditional market and one of the best places to see local life: stalls with Samarkand bread, dried fruit, nuts, spices, sweets and handmade goods.
Stop 5Lunch break (optional)
If you wish, your guide and driver can stop at a local restaurant, where you can try Uzbek dishes such as plov, manti and shashlik. Lunch is not included and can be skipped or adjusted to your preferences.
Stop 6Shah-i-Zinda Necropolis
A sacred avenue of mausoleums built between the 11th and 15th centuries, famous for its blue and turquoise tilework. The complex is traditionally associated with Qusam ibn Abbas, a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad, and has long been a place of pilgrimage.
Stop 7Ulugh Beg Observatory
The tour ends where the 15th-century astronomer and ruler Ulugh Beg carried out his research — a reminder that Samarkand was a centre of science as well as of power.
